President and Co-Founder of NanoSTEAM Foundation
Roxanne Velez is the President and Co-Founder of NanoSTEAM Foundation – an innovative non-profit created to promote gender equality in the sciences and make those fields more accessible to women and girls by increasing participation in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Roxanne has always believed it is the intersection of these disciplines that will create the next generation of inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs.
For most of her career, she was at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) and the University of Washington as a Staff Scientist working for the world renowned immunologist, Phil Greenberg. Roxanne later worked at Genentech as part of the team responsible for many of the leading cancer drugs on the market including Perjeta and Herceptin.
Roxanne holds a M.S in Biomedical Engineering and Regulatory Affairs from the University of Washington, and a B.S in Biochemistry from Seattle Pacific University.
