This Year’s Awards Program Expands to Include a New Category Honoring Ads That Challenge Stereotypes Associated with Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation and Religious Beliefs
NEW YORK, NY – April 4, 2017 – SheKnows Media, a leading women’s media company that averages 60 million unique visitors per month (comScore) and reaches over 300 million social media fans, announced that it has opened the Call for Entries for the third-annual #Femvertising Awards today, in honor of Equal Pay Day in the U.S. This year’s awards program was announced last month on March 8, International Women’s Day.
Based on a word coined by SheKnows Media in 2014, the #Femvertising Awards pay tribute to brands, agencies and organizations that break down gender stereotypes through pro-female advertising. This year, SheKnows Media is expanding the scope of the awards with the addition of the new #Normvertising category, created to honor advertising that challenges societal norms – rejecting notions and labels associated with race, sexual orientation and religious beliefs.
The following panel of advertising executives and industry thought leaders will help SheKnows Media determine the 2017 #Femvertising Awards finalists, which will be announced in August when the public voting phase of the awards program begins:
Ultimately, the public will determine the winners of the 2017 #Femvertising Awards via public vote. The winning campaigns will be announced during the 2017 Advertising Week New York conference taking place September 25-29. To date, more than 170 brands and agencies of all sizes and across all industries – from Always to Bud Light to Dove to RAM Trucks to Under Armour – have summited their work for recognition, and more than 20,000 votes from the public have been cast for the best-of-the-best pro-female advertising.
